This quick ink sketch from the corner of A1A and Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach, Florida.

This sketch grew from a Fort Lauderdale water Taxi ride, specifically stop #5 in Las Olas. Ink sketch with ink wash.

This began as a pencil sketch 2 years back, just a month before the pandemic and out on the town. Finished today, quietly, in my sketch garden, as a watercolor with ink accents. Time is spice.

This giant fan palm in Boca Raton Florida was the inspiration for this sketch, with storm clouds via Tropical Storm Fred growing in the background. Watercolor wash followed by ink sketch.

While touring Havana we were mesmerized by the local fisherman jockeying for position along the Malecon as swarms of fish drew their attention and hooks. Ink sketch and watercolor.

More from my series of quick sketches in ink, committing to the contours and fascinated by the folds, textures and shadows in my Muse’s headscarf. Thanks for visiting!

My muse is a talented singer and most importantly a delightful person. Enjoyed drawing the shading in his face and adding some abstract features on his glasses for embellishment. Pencil sketch with ink shadows.

Her headscarf which added volume and interesting lines around her face along with her gaze, soft yet curious, were the draw for this muse. Loose lines, fast, some bold, some subtle in ink and washed with a water brush.

I’m enjoying a phase of drawing in ink, committing to lines, not overthinking, quick sketches and delighting in my muse and his extraordinary talents. Ink with ink wash for shading.

This inspiration photo became my shading experiment in contour hatching. Much to practice, much fun!

When to stop,
When to add more lines,
When to blur,
When to look away,
When to decide,
What is,
is enough.
