Watercolor and ink.

This began as a pencil sketch 2 years back, just a month before the pandemic and out on the town. Finished today, quietly, in my sketch garden, as a watercolor with ink accents. Time is spice.

My muse is a talented singer and most importantly a delightful person. Enjoyed drawing the shading in his face and adding some abstract features on his glasses for embellishment. Pencil sketch with ink shadows.

This inspiration photo became my shading experiment in contour hatching. Much to practice, much fun!

Her smile
is so uplifting
it creates a

First
washed in wet
graphite, then a
dry wash with
occasional dabs
of charcoal and
ink hashing
to give this
beautiful
muse
a whimsical
flair.

Nothing quite
like a day out in
the sun to bring
on the happy!
Many thanks to
my friend Lady
Liza for being my
inspirational
photo!

This P.A.
readies her patients
with a surprise OH…
and then
comes the
stethoscope.
Charcoal and pencil on tonal paper.

This lady wore determination
in her eyes,
and softness
in her heart,
a pleasure to
draw.
Charcoal.

Lady Jill
styles her unstoppable
spirit
—
a capacity for
exercise,
laughter,
play,
that has
no

of colored pencil
aims to
capture
the Eye
of her Tiger.

From my archives
this charcoal
portrait
attempted
to capture the
soul of
this kind,
gentle
man.

Her smile,

In case there
was any doubt
how a biker

sets
a style,
it’s all
about the

Ms. Barbara.
Colored pencil.

This lady
gave me the chance
to ponder smiles,
how a single
smile can brighten
a day,
how some people
give smiles
freely,
naturally,
others,
occasionally,
and I smile
just thinking
about her
generous gift,
her sweet spot.

Detroit Slim,

that thang.
Be sure to
catch
a listen
to this
SNL closing theme.

Celebrating each day
with a smile,
a warm embrace,
she finds brightness,
lightness,
by giving,
both back and forward,
and doesn’t everyone
need a Ms. Debora
in their life?

This lady
looked back
at me
in shades of
black n white,
but then
with
a splash
of lip gloss,
she
became
Ruby.

What I love
about portrait
drawing,
is seeing
the person
in ways
I would have
likely missed,
and that twinkle,
in her eye,
is oh so
honestly.

Sweet Angie,
a beautiful lady,
sat next to me,
ringing in the
New Year,
and it is the
simple sweetness,
in her eyes,
in her heart,
that I hoped
to capture.
