The Bassist

The inspiration for this piece
took me on a time travel
listening to Mister Gene
performing in northwest DC
and thinking of the times
he stayed
at our home
first, adhering to a
strict diet
and some years later,
the palate expanded
to apple pie
and I can say for me
eating pie was a hit.
